Question 1.
How will you construct a rectangle PQRS if you know only the lengths PQ and QR?
Solution:
We can construct a rectangle if two adjacent sides are given.
As we know that each angle of a rectangle is 90°.
Here, in PQRS, a rectangle, PQ, and QR are given.
PQ = RS and QR = PS
∠P = ∠Q = ∠R = ∠S = 90°

Question 2.
Construct the kite EASY, if AY = 8 cm, EY = 4 cm and SY = 6 cm (Fig.). Which properties of the kite did you use in the process?
Solution:
In the process of constructing a kite, we use the property that a kite has two pairs of equal adjacent sides and unequal opposite sides.
Draw a line PQ of any length. Take a point L on it. At L, construct RU ⊥ PQ as shown.

Take a point E anywhere at PQ. From E, draw an arc of radius 4 cm intersecting LU at Y and LR at A. Join EY and EA.
Taking Y as centre draw an arc of radius 6 cm, intersecting PQ opposite to point E at S.
KSEEB Solutions for Class 8 Maths Chapter 4 Practical Geometry InText Questions Q2.1
With the same radius draw in an arc from point A, it will also intersect at S. Join E to Y and A and S to Y and A. EASY is the required kite.
